ESL’s Reefer Sharing Unit is a compact, lightweight portable assembly that safely allows two frozen load reefers to be powered from one permanently installed reefer outlet.

When extra reefer capacity is required, the RSU is lashed close to two reefers and is plugged into an existing outlet. The RSU cover is then opened and the timer on the RSU is set to the desired 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10-hour intervals. The existing permanent outlet is then energized and the two reefers are plugged into the RSU. The reefers are then alternately powered based upon the time that was set. This will continue until stopped by an operator. If one of the reefers is unplugged at any time, the RSU will only provide power to the remaining reefer and will not switch back and forth.

ESL’s RSU is packaged in a Type 4X fiberglass enclosure. The enclosure is supplied with either stainless steel hanger brackets or with a utility handle. The hanger brackets allow the RSU to be lashed to stationary shipboard structure (such as a catwalk). Long-life neon pilot lights indicate which reefer is energized.
